What is GHK-Cu?

GHK is a natural tripeptide (glycine, histidine and lysine) first found in human blood. Its stand-out feature is how strongly it grabs onto copper. The GHK-Cu we supply is the copper-loaded form, which is why the mixed solution turns a deep blue.

Levels of GHK in the blood are known to drop as we get older, which is one reason it has drawn so much interest in skin and tissue research. It's one of the most heavily published copper-peptides in the scientific literature.

What researchers study GHK-Cu for

In studies on skin cells, GHK-Cu has been linked to changes in the genes that build the skin's support structure, including collagen (types I and III), elastin and other matrix components, while also helping slow the breakdown of that structure. This two-sided effect is why it's often used as a reference point in skin-remodelling experiments.

A separate area of study is copper delivery itself. Because several important enzymes need copper to work, researchers look at GHK-Cu as a way to carry copper into cells, not just as a signalling peptide. Broader gene-activity studies have reported effects across DNA repair, antioxidant and inflammation-related genes.

How to store and prepare GHK-Cu

GHK-Cu comes at a higher strength than most peptides in the range, because skin studies usually use higher concentrations. Mix it with bacteriostatic water added slowly down the vial wall, and the solution should turn a clear, deep blue. If it looks green or brown, the peptide has degraded and the vial should be thrown away.

It's sensitive to light. Keep the mixed solution in the fridge (2–8°C) in the dark and use within 30 days. Don't combine it with strong 'chelating' agents such as EDTA in the same solution, as they'll pull the copper away from the peptide.
