What is KPV?

Alpha-MSH is a small natural hormone with two jobs: affecting skin pigment and calming inflammation. KPV is just its final three building blocks (lysine, proline and valine), and it keeps much of the anti-inflammatory side while dropping the pigment effect.

Its tiny size makes it unusually stable and cheap to make at high purity, and lets it slip into cells through a transporter (called PepT1) that's common in the gut lining.

What researchers study KPV for

The main focus in KPV research is that inflammation switch, NF-κB. In cell layers that have been deliberately inflamed, KPV has been shown to quieten this switch and reduce the inflammation signals it would normally turn on.

Other work looks at how well the gut barrier holds together, by measuring the 'tightness' of cell layers. A further strand studies the PepT1 transporter specifically, since it offers a route to deliver KPV straight into inflamed gut tissue in colitis models.

How to store and prepare KPV

KPV dissolves easily in water. Mix it with bacteriostatic water, swirl gently, and use the clear colourless solution within 30 days when kept in the fridge (2–8°C).

Because it's such a short peptide, KPV breaks down more quickly in solutions that contain serum, so researchers often prepare fresh dilutions on the day they're used.

What does 99% purity actually mean?

It means at least 99% of what's in the vial is the peptide itself, with almost no leftover by-products. We measure this with a lab technique called HPLC, and only release batches that reach 99% or higher. The exact figure for your batch is printed on its certificate.

How does KPV come packaged?

KPV arrives as a freeze-dried powder in a sealed glass vial, with a flip-off cap and a tamper-evident seal so you know it hasn't been opened. You'll need bacteriostatic water to mix it (sold separately).
