Why bacteriostatic water and not plain sterile water?

Plain sterile water has nothing in it to stop bacteria growing, so once you've opened the vial it should really only be used once. Bacteriostatic water has a small amount of benzyl alcohol added, which keeps bacteria at bay and makes it safe to draw from the same vial many times over a study.

So if your work involves dipping into one mixed peptide vial repeatedly, bacteriostatic water is the right choice.

How to use it

Wipe the rubber stopper with an alcohol swab before every use. Draw up the amount of water you need, then add it slowly down the inside wall of the peptide vial rather than squirting it straight onto the powder, which can damage the peptide and cause foaming.

Swirl gently until everything has dissolved. Never shake. Once opened, use the bacteriostatic water within 28 days and keep it at room temperature, out of direct light.

How much bacteriostatic water do I need per vial?

Most people mix a 10mg peptide vial with 2ml to 5ml of bacteriostatic water, depending on the concentration they want. A single 10ml vial will usually cover two to five peptide vials.

How long does it last once opened?

Once the stopper has been pierced, use the vial within 28 days. Keep it at room temperature, out of direct sunlight, and wipe the stopper with an alcohol swab before every use.

Where is it made and shipped from?
